Conference: Fresh thinking on democracy, finance and debt
Tim Jackson on »Socially useful investment: making money work for people and planet«,
London 10 May 2013, 1 pm

Transforming Finance is a coalition project led by Friends of the Earth, and draws on the expertise and support of a broad alliance of think tanks and NGOs with an interest in making finance work for people and planet, including the New Economics Foundation and Finance Lab.

The aim of the conference is to improve understanding and debate around a range of proposals designed to 1) prevent asset price bubbles, debt crises and state bailouts of financial institutions; as well as 2) get finance into projects with long-term social and environmental value.

Speakers include:
  • Tim Jackson, Professor of Sustainable Development, University of Surrey
  • James Vacarro, Head of Market and Corporate Development at Triodos Bank
  • Mariana Mazzucato, Professor of Science and Technology Policy, University of Sussex
