Tim Jackson appointed to board of new Foundation chaired by Connie Hedegaard
 
Tim Jackson has been appointed to the board of the new KR Foundation recently established by VILLUM FONDEN with the aim of supporting initiatives within climate, new economics and sustainability. The work of the Kann Foundation, to be chaired by former EU Climate Change Commissioner Connie Hedegaard, will start from January 1, 2015. The fund will focus on initiatives to promote economic transition, including in production and consumption patterns, and to help increase sustainability and planetary resilience. The board of the foundation will decide on the specific areas of intervention.
 
Connie Hedegaard commented: "Globally, both our climate and environment is challenged. We need to take action now. By donating DKK 1 billion to Kann Foundation, the Kann Rasmussen family gives a boost to a comprehensive approach in addressing the challenges related to climate, environment and economy. Creating better synergy between economic growth and climate/environment is the central challenge of our time. Therefore, it is a privilege as coming Chairman of the Board of Kann Foundation to be able to initiate and support crucial projects and initiatives within this particular field".
 
In addition to Connie Hedegaard and Tim Jackson, the KR Foundation board will include Anthony A. Leiserowitz, Johan Rockström, with Astrid Kann-Rasmussen as Trustee. The Executive Director of the foundation will be René Dinesen.
